My Philosophy

Nutritional Therapy

for women with autoimmunity

I believe your body wants to heal.

Your body knows what to do when it’s given the right support, in the right order, and at the right pace. It’s what I’ve seen consistently in my work with clients, and it’s what I experienced myself on my own healing journey. The body is always trying to move toward balance, and our job is to give it what it needs to get there.

I believe most women with autoimmunity are missing two crucial things.

The first is a comprehensive protocol that addresses both the foundations the body needs to function and the more complex layers like gut dysfunction, hormone imbalances, chronic infections, and toxin burden. Most approaches do one or the other, or they miss important steps. The body requires both to truly heal.

The second thing that’s missing is consistent, ongoing support from their practitioner throughout the process. So many women are handed a protocol and left to figure it out on their own. When you’re dealing with a complex chronic condition or autoimmunity, that adds to feeling overwhelmed, confusion, inconsistency, and the feeling that nothing is working. In reality, what’s missing is someone in your corner helping you navigate every step of the way and celebrating your wins.

You shouldn’t have to do this alone. And with me, you won’t.

I believe bio-individuality changes everything.

There is no one single protocol that works for every woman with autoimmunity. What works for one person may not work for another. That’s why everything I recommend for you is based on your labs, your history, your symptoms, your goals, and your life. Your body is unique, and your path to healing should be too.

This is my promise to you.

Every recommendation I make with a client comes back to these beliefs. Supporting the foundations while addressing the deeper root causes. Moving in the right order so we’re not overwhelming your system. Staying by your side so you never feel lost in the process.

This is what I wished I had when I was struggling, and it’s what I’m committed to giving every woman I work with.

FAQs

Autoimmune Support FAQ

Why am I always tired even though my labs are normal?

This is one of the most common and frustrating experiences women with autoimmune conditions share. Standard lab work is designed to rule out disease, not to find the subtle imbalances that drive symptoms like chronic fatigue. When your labs come back “normal” but you still feel exhausted, it usually means we need to look deeper.

Chronic fatigue in women with autoimmune conditions like Hashimoto’s, lupus, or rheumatoid arthritis is often connected to a combination of factors like inflammation, nutrient deficiencies, blood sugar instability, thyroid dysfunction, gut imbalances, food sensitivities, adrenal stress, poor sleep, toxin exposure, or chronic infections. It’s rarely just one thing.

Can functional nutrition help autoimmune symptoms?

Yes, and for many women, it’s the missing piece they haven’t tried yet. Functional nutrition addresses the root causes driving autoimmune symptoms rather than just managing how those symptoms feel. This includes supporting gut health, reducing inflammation, balancing blood sugar, addressing nutrient deficiencies, improving sleep, and identifying hidden stressors like chronic infections, mold exposure, or food sensitivities.

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to autoimmune disease, which is why everything I do is personalized to your labs, your history, and your life. Many women I work with (including those with Hashimoto’s, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Sjogren’s, and other autoimmune conditions) notice significant improvements in energy, digestion, brain fog, sleep quality, and pain levels when we address the right root causes in the right order.

Do I need an autoimmune diagnosis to work with you?

No, and this is a really important point. Many women seek support before receiving a formal diagnosis from their doctor because they know something in their body feels off, even when their doctors can’t explain it yet. You don’t need a diagnosis to get answers & support.

Functional nutrition focuses on your symptoms, health history, lifestyle patterns, and the potential root causes behind what you’re experiencing instead of a diagnosis label. Whether you’ve been diagnosed with an autoimmune condition like Hashimoto’s or lupus, or you’re still searching for answers, we can start building a clear picture of what’s going on and what your body actually needs.

Why do I still feel terrible even though I’m eating healthy?

I see this all the time with my clients. They’re eating a beautiful and healthy diet, yet they still feel terrible. This is because eating healthy is just one piece of the puzzle for women with autoimmune conditions.

Factors like chronic stress, gut dysfunction, leaky gut, food sensitivities, blood sugar instability, sleep quality, hormone imbalances, toxic burden, and immune system dysregulation all affect how you feel regardless of how clean your diet is. In fact, some women with autoimmune conditions are eating foods that are generally considered healthy but are actually driving inflammation in their body.

This is why a personalized, bio-individual approach matters so much. What works for one woman with autoimmunity may not work for another. Instead of following generic wellness advice, we use functional lab testing and a thorough assessment of your symptoms and history to understand exactly what your body needs.

What is the connection between leaky gut and autoimmune disease?

Leaky gut, also known as intestinal permeability, is one of the most common problems of autoimmune symptoms. When the lining of the gut becomes compromised, undigested food particles, toxins, and bacteria can pass through into the bloodstream, triggering an immune response and driving systemic inflammation.

Research increasingly supports the connection between gut permeability and autoimmune conditions including Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and inflammatory bowel conditions. Supporting gut health which includes digestion, nutrient absorption, the gut microbiome, removing food sensitivities, and intestinal lining integrity is always a foundational part of how I work with women with autoimmune symptoms.

Can mold exposure trigger or worsen autoimmune symptoms?

Yes! This is often missed or not addressed properly in women with autoimmune conditions. Toxic mold exposure can trigger significant immune dysregulation, chronic inflammation, and a wide range of symptoms that closely mimic or worsen autoimmune disease which includes fatigue, brain fog, joint pain, hormone imbalances, food sensitivities, and more.

Many women who have been exposed to mold in their home or workplace don’t realize it’s a factor because standard testing doesn’t screen for it and conventional providers rarely consider it. This is an area I have both personal and clinical experience with. Identifying and addressing toxic burden, including mold illness and mycotoxins, is an important part of my work with women dealing with complex chronic illness and autoimmunity.

Can stress make autoimmune symptoms worse?

Yes, chronic stress is one of the most significant contributors of autoimmune flare-ups and one of the most overlooked. When the body is under chronic stress, it triggers cortisol imbalances, increased inflammation, disrupted sleep, hormone imbalances, and immune system dysregulation, all of which can worsen autoimmune symptoms over time.

Many women with autoimmune conditions find themselves stuck in a cycle of stress, exhaustion, and flare-ups that feels impossible to break. Supporting the nervous system and addressing the physiological impact of chronic stress is always part of how I approach autoimmune care.

How long will it take me to feel better & see results while working with you?

Since we all have unique, bio-individual needs, it’s impossible to give an exact time frame for your situation. Some people start seeing results within a few weeks, and some will take several months to a year or more. Most clients will need a minimum of three months to see improvements, however your time frame may vary.

What does working with a functional nutritionist for autoimmune health look like?

We start with a thorough deep dive into your symptoms, health history, nutrition, digestion, stress, sleep, lifestyle habits, and health goals. From there, we use functional lab testing to get a clear picture of what’s happening with your body right now.

Based on your results, I build a personalized protocol specific to you that supports the foundations your body needs while working through the deeper root causes in the right order. Throughout the process, you have support from me at every step. We troubleshoot together, adjust the protocol as needed, and make sure you always know exactly what we’re doing and why.

What are the most commonly missed root causes in autoimmune conditions?

In my experience working with women with autoimmune and complex chronic illness, I frequently see a combination of factors like, gut imbalances, chronic infections, toxic mold exposure and mycotoxin illness, heavy metal toxicity, blood sugar imbalances, adrenal dysfunction and chronic stress, nutrient deficiencies, hormone imbalances, and food sensitivities that haven’t been identified. It’s never just “one” main issue and I usually see it’s several issues layered on top of each other, which is why a comprehensive and phased approach matters so much.
